The GSR

General Service Representative-G.S.R.

May be the most important job in A.A.

“The general service representative has the job of linking his or her group with A.A. as a whole. The G.S.R. represents the voice of the group conscience, reporting the group’s thoughts to the district committee member and to the delegate, who passes them on to the Conference. This communication is a two-way street, making the G.S.R. responsible for bringing back to the group Conference Actions that affect A.A. unity, health, and growth. Only when a G.S.R. keeps the group informed, and communicates the group conscience, can the Conference truly act for A.A. as a whole.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                —The A.A. Service Manual, p. S26

Do you have a keen interest in the Twelve Traditions and the service structure of AA? If so, you’re in luck!  During the Saturday of the Assembly you will be able to choose to attend a handful of the 20+ workshops, discussion meetings and social events.  On Sunday, you will attend the Business Meeting with G.S.R.s, D.C.M.s, area officers and visitors.

A.A. service is anything that helps us to reach a fellow sufferer— ranging all the way from the Twelfth Step itself, to a phone call and a cup of coffee, District and Area meetings, events and to A.A.’s General Service Office for national and international action. The sum total of all these services is our Third Legacy of Service.  Remember, “I am responsible…When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help; I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that: I am responsible”.

A limited number of scholarships (financial assistance) are available to AA’s who cannot afford the expenses of attending the Area 14 Assembly, further details are available on the application.  The District 15 Committee requests that you write a letter/email stating your interest and complete the short application at least 15 days prior to the event for evaluation.  For more information email District15AA@gmail.com
